Urbania – The New York Second

Attentive readers of these ‘liner notes’ may have noticed that many of my tunes’ titles reference Italy. This is because my family and I often spend the summer vacation there, and it is only then that I have time to write up some of my new compositions in Sibelius, the music notation software.

Urbania is a small city in the lovely Marche region and the main things it has going for it are a very attractive central square, a laid-back atmosphere, and a conspicuous lack of tourists. Also, I learned while enjoying my espresso in this central square, the municipality features as the main setting of Ci Siamo, a high school textbook for Australian students of Italian. So, altogether, not equal to Venice or Florence, but should you find yourself in the vicinity, worth a detour.

In the meantime, I thought the laid-back feel of this Latin-ish composition fit well with the athmosphere I enjoyed there, so when typing it up in my Sibelius, I did not have to think long about an appropriate title.
